Trans Himalayan Motor Cycle Rally
In order to inculcate the spirit of adventure, team bonding and espirit-de-corps, Karnataka Naval Area (KNA) is conducting a Trans Himalayan Motor Cycle Rally. 15 personnel belonging to KNA are participating in the rally. The rally is planned to cover a distance of approximately 2000 Kms and pass through Chamba, Pangi, Lahual and Spiti Valley. The 10 days rally has been flagged-off by VAdm AK Chawla,AVSM,NM,VSM, Chief of Personnel at New Delhi on 26 Jul 16. The participants will negotiate difficult mountain terrain and some of the highest motorable passes like Sach, Rothang and Kunzum La.
The participants will undergo a grueling routine by starting every morning at 0500 hrs and driving minimum 10-12 hrs each day. The most challenging part of the journey is expected to commence while crossing Sach Pass which is at 14500 feet in the Pir Punjal range of the Himalayas and connects Chamba valley with the Pangi Valley. After crossing over to Pangi Valley the rally will traverse through part of the famous Raid-De-Himalaya Motoring route which is considered as the World’s highest rally route. During the journey the rally will have to navigate through roads which have been reduced to rocks from constant landslides and beds of overflowing, streams and rivers. The rally will terminate at Delhi on 04th of August 2016.
