Lonavla, 19th August 2022: There are frequent accident cases on the Mumbai Pune Expressway. The life of the victims in these accidents can be saved if they receive proper treatment in time.

Hence, former vice president of Lonavala Sridhar Pujari demanded that a trauma care centre should start at Kusgaon Toll Naka in Lonawala on the Mumbai Pune Expressway in a building which has been closed for the past several years.

Last week, Shiv Sangram leader and former MLA Vinayak Mete died in an accident near Bhatan tunnel on the expressway. His driver has alleged that Mete died an hour after the accident due to a lack of medical facilities. Like Mete, thousands of citizens have died on this road only because they did not get timely medical help. To prevent this, it is necessary to have a trauma care centre in Lonavala city.

Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) earlier had constructed a big building at Kusgaon Toll Naka. A hotel was proposed there but it never started. This magnificent building has been lying in dust for many years. The space in front of the building is also large so vehicles can also park.

“Considering the accidents, most of the accidents happen in the ghat area. In case of an accident here, the patients have to be taken either to MGM Hospital in Kamothe or Lokmanya Hospital in Nigdi. A trauma care centre has been set up at Ozarde, but since it is also not joint, the government should consider this abandoned place and start trauma care there so that patients can get treatment in the golden hour after an accident,” Pujari has demanded.
