Two Arrested For IPL Betting in Pimpri, Valuables Worth Rs 24.27 Lakh Seized

Pimpri, September 26, 2020: Two men have been arrested for illegal IPL betting under the ‘Zero Tolerance’ campaign launched by the newly appointed Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash to eradicate all illicit trades in Pimpri-Chinchwad city.

The arrested persons have been identified as Lal Chand Sharma (49), Chetan Kothwani (50), both are residents of Pimpri.

Acting on the tip-off received by policeman Bharti, a team led by Senior Police Inspector Milind Waghmare raided Sai Angan hotel in Vaibhav Nagar and arrested the two accused. The police team has seized four mobile phones, Rs 5,850 cash, a notebook, two pens, a calculator, an Innova car, totally worth Rs 24.27 lakh.

A case has been registered against them under the Maharashtra Gambling Prevention Act, and further investigation is going on.

The action was taken under the guidance of DCP (Crime Branch) Sudhir Hiremath and ACP Ram Jadhav by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Milind Waghmare. The team included Police Inspector Rajendra Nikalje(Crime), Sub Inspector Sachin Suryavanshi and policemen Kakde, Hande, Ghaygude, Band, Sonawane, Jadhav and Kade.
