Bavdhan, 1st September 2026: Bavdhan police have booked two men for allegedly obstructing traffic on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway while shooting videos and social media reels featuring newly purchased cars.

The incident took place on the busy stretch between Balewadi and Bhujbal Chowk towards Wakad, where the men allegedly stopped and parked their vehicle on the highway during peak traffic. They then began filming reels, disrupting the movement of other motorists and causing congestion.

According to the report, the obstruction continued for several minutes, with vehicles forced to slow down or wait behind the parked car. This reportedly resulted in long queues on the busy stretch.

A video of the incident was recorded and later circulated on social media. The footage drew criticism over motorists stopping on busy roads to create social media content and showcase their vehicles.

The alleged obstruction also raised concerns over road safety, particularly as stopping a vehicle on an active highway can affect the movement of other motorists and potentially delay emergency vehicles.

Police have registered a case under CR No. 385/2026 under Sections 285, 281, 223 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with other relevant provisions.

The police action comes amid increasing scrutiny of motorists engaging in disruptive or potentially dangerous activities on public roads for social media content.
