Two youths nabbed for stealing bikes for joyride, TikTok videos

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 10 August 2020: Police have arrested two persons for stealing for fun and also using them while making TikTok videos. They had also sold a few bikes to their friends without documents. Ten bikes which were stolen are seized from them by Crime branch Unit 1 of Pimpri Chinchwad police.

The arrested persons have been identified as Swapnil Raju Katkae (19) of Adarshnagar, Bhosari and Rahul Mohan Pawar (19) of Chakrapani Vasahat, Bhosari. Rahul also used the stolen bikes for making TikTok videos.

Senior Police Inspector Uttam Tangde said that police constables Ganesh Sawant and Nitin Khese had received a tip-off that the two accused were standing under the bridge in Bhosari on Sunday night. Accordingly, a team was sent there and the duo was nabbed.

When they were asked about the bike they didn’t answer properly. When brought to the crime branch office and questioned, they both confessed that they had stolen the bike. Police seized 10 two-wheelers from them. Of these, FIRs about the theft of eight bikes are registered with Sangvi, Bhosari, MIDC Bhosari and Khadki police station. The other two vehicle owners didn’t register an FIR. A two-wheeler was stolen from Sangamner by the accused.

According to police, the accused used to ride the stolen bike all day and at night they used to park it in the parking lot under the bridge at Bhosari. He had sold some of the bikes saying that he would hand over the documents to acquaintances later.

DCP Sudhir Hiremath, Assistant Commissioner RR Patil supervised the investigation team which included Assistant Police Inspector Ganesh Patil, Police Sub-Inspector Kaluram Landge and policemen Ravindra Gawande, Sachin Ugle, Ganesh Sawant, Vijay More, Vishal Bhoir and Nitin Khese.
