Uber, the technology company that has transformed urban mobility for millions, connecting riders to drivers, partnered with the Teach for India foundation this Teacher’s day to celebrate the love for teaching with #UberSchool
The unique initiative gave all Uber riders a chance to ignite the spark of knowledge and help shape leaders of tomorrow, for a day.
“We believe in helping people contribute towards the fight against educational inequality. Through our partnership with Uber, people who want to serve underprivileged children got a chance to make their wish come true with #UberSCHOOL”, said Dhwani, the City Development and Communication Manager at Teach for India.
Sanil Bhatia, General Manager, Uber Pune said, “Uber is all about celebrating cities and connecting our community with amazing and unique experiences. Our growth is not only in the count of cities we are entering but also how we are helping serve our cities and communities better. UberSCHOOL is an initiative in that direction & one that exhibits how technology can democratize the process of connecting riders to a noble cause – improving the overall quality of life in a city.”
“The class of grade seven that I taught was very warm and eager to learn. Its was an experience of a lifetime”, said Nafisa, one of the #UberSCHOOL volunteer. She even received a thank you note from one of her students.
The initiative received great response with over 200 people from Pune volunteering to teach a subject of their choice to children for a day. From former Navy officer, musician to sportspersons – Punekars came out in huge numbers to celebrate Teacher’s Day in the most unique way.
