“The scholarship for this year will have an outlay of INR 4 Lakhs to be disbursed to the dependents of serving and retired Army jawans studying at the institute. This scholarship will support 32 students to pursue the courses and other interventions for their educational and personal growth over and above their regular course work to evolve as a total quality person in their lives. The scholarship covers and encourages students in the early days to think beyond just academics and develop enterprising capabilities to emerge as an asset to the nation”, informed Ravi Kumar (32), founder of Pune-based udChalo.
AIT director Brig Abhay A Bhat (retd) said, “AIT is extremely proud of our alumni venture ‘udChalo’. A unique business venture, udChalo team has integrated social service in their business strategy and they are doing a yeoman service to the Armed forces and the veterans. They have made a point to employ mostly defence forces personnel, specifically where ever possible providing them to the war wounded and specially challenged soldiers. Where would you find a better example of ‘Giving back to your roots?’ udChalo has gone a step further, as part of their CSR activity have now decided to award scholarships to students of AIT, which is again giving back to their alma mater. Not only will some deserving students benefit from this scholarship, but many of them will be motivated to follow udChalo footsteps and launch many more such social entrepreneurship. It is a huge step in building such a culture amongst AIT students and Alumni.”

udChalo is a leading travel company operating in the niche market providing ease of last moment travel problems of the Indian Armed Forces personnel posted on our northern and northeastern borders of Jammu and Kashmir, North-eastern states. The company with the vision of making the life of the soldiers simpler also operates over 40 physical counters at various Cantt areas with poor connectivity and remote locations; notably the one at Uri which is 4 km from the LoC.
