New Delhi, 11th October 2023: The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given the nod to the creation of Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat), an autonomous organization aimed at fostering youth development through technology. The initiative is designed to bridge the gap between the government and young citizens, transforming them into agents of community change and national development.

Objectives and Impact:

Mera Yuva Bharat aims to serve as a comprehensive government platform dedicated to youth development. The initiative will provide young people with the resources and opportunities they need to become catalysts for change in their communities. The program is designed to tap into the vast potential of India’s youth for the purpose of nation-building.

Key Features:

Targeting individuals aged 15-29, MY Bharat aligns with the age criteria set forth in the National Youth Policy. Special program components will also cater to adolescents in the 10-19 age group.

The establishment of MY Bharat is expected to yield several benefits, including:

  • Leadership Skill Enhancement: The program aims to bolster leadership qualities in youth through experiential learning and skill development.
  • Youth as Social Innovators: Investment in young people will empower them to become community leaders and social innovators.
  • Active Participation: The initiative focuses on transforming youth from passive beneficiaries to active drivers of development.
  • Community Alignment: The program aims to better align youth initiatives with community needs.
  • Program Convergence: MY Bharat will act as a centralized hub for existing youth programs, enhancing overall efficiency.
  • Centralized Youth Database: The initiative will compile a comprehensive database of young people.
  • Improved Communication: The program will facilitate better two-way communication between the government and youth, including other stakeholders involved in youth activities.
  • Accessibility: A physical ecosystem will be created to ensure easy access to the program’s offerings.

In response to the fast-paced changes in communication, social media, and emerging technologies, the government has decided to establish MY Bharat. This autonomous body will serve as an overarching mechanism for youth engagement and empowerment, guided by a ‘whole of government approach.’
