Unique dance performance ‘Ghungroo’ to be performed in Pune

Pune, August 25, 2019 : Punekars will get a chance to watch a unique three hours dance performance called ‘Gunghroo’ organized by Urvashi Kala Srishti (UKS). The show will be presented at Rama Krishna Prekshagriha, Chinchwad on August 30, 2019 at 05.15 pm.

Urvashi Kala Srishti (UKS) is a dedicated Indian dances academy which functions under the guidance of Dr. Urvashi Shrivastava, renowned classical dancer and Chairperson of Department of Vedic Dances, Maharishi University, Netherlands.

The dance performance will be presented by students of the academy and different forms of dances including the Jaipur gharana pure kathak and bhajan dance, pure Bharatnatyam with Adavus, Pushpanjali, Ganesh Stuti, Allaripu and Sabdam will be performed followed by Bharatnatyam steps on popular hindi songs. A multi-mix dance of several folk dances, Sufi and Contemporary dances will also be presented by Dr. Urvashi who was honoured amongst six best women who contributed for the growth of Indian performing arts in society by the Lions Club, Pune in 2018.

Dr. Urvashi has also invented Stress Relief Dance (SRD) for all by the synergy of steps from Bharatnatyam, Odissi and Kathak and psychology, which has enthused many working ladies to learn dance in this institute to reduce their workplace stress – a common human resources problem among all students, trainees and working class. The innovative approach is currently under evaluation by National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences(NIMHANS), Bengaluru. UKS has recently initiated online dance training programme in Singapore and Dubai.

Beside regular dance classes of all Indian classical, folk and contemporary forms, UKS, which has women and girls of all ages from 5 to 55 years under its wing as students conducts workshops on wholesome health programmes through dance that has comprehensive dimension of stress reduction for physical fitness. UKS has made its unique place in the field of culture in India wherein all the Indian classical dances and folk dances are taught under one roof.
