Unmukta Youth Organization Starts Initiative For Blood Plasma Donation Drive In Pune And PCMC Areas

Pune, 24th April 2021: City-based social group Unmukta Youth Organization has started an initiative called “Plasma Donors Database Collection Drive” to ensure the availability of blood plasma for those who need it.

This drive was launched on 18th April 2021, for creating awareness about Plasma Donation among the people and creating a database of donors for faster availability of Plasma. Under this initiative information of all the plasma donors from adjacent areas of PCMC and Pune has been collected using Google forms. And a centralised database has been created with all the information and it is provided to Blood Banks so it can be easily accessible. The Blood Bank can contact the team for the donors and reach the donors who are willing to donate plasma.

Founder and chief Convenor Tanmay Dumbre said, “We have approached many Radio Jockey’s, film Actors on Instagram so that this drive can reach out to more youths out there, we are expecting a good response from youths.”

He further said, “We are encouraging more people from the age group of 18 – 60 who have recovered from COVID 19 to donate Plasma and save many valuable lives.”

Since the outbreak of the second wave of Covid infection, Volunteers are working from home and are coordinating with donors and the patient’s relatives to help people in dire need.

“It takes immense efforts to arrange plasma for any patient; our team spends hours arranging for donors. The Drive which we have started could prove beneficial to many, we expect people to participate for this noble cause and contribute to saving lives”, added Meghana Joshi, Convenor at Unmukta Youth Organization.
