Pune, 9th January 2024: Pune experienced unseasonal rain, catching residents off guard and leading to a sudden rush of people heading out for work in the morning. Cloudy weather dominated the city area from early morning, accompanied by a noticeable rise in temperature. The unexpected rain began around ten o’clock, causing some areas, including Kothrud, Pashan, Sus, and Loni Kalbhor, to witness showers.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted heavy rains in various parts of Maharashtra today. The cloudy weather persisted in most parts of Maharashtra, with forecasts indicating light to moderate rain at some locations. The unseasonal rain brought relief from the heat but created surprise and inconvenience for those commuting in the morning.

The weather is expected to remain cloudy in most parts of Maharashtra throughout the day, with the possibility of light to moderate rain in certain areas. The forecast suggests a dry spell in Maharashtra starting from January 12.

The weather department’s forecast highlights the likelihood of heavy rain in specific locations, including Tamil Nadu coastal areas. Additionally, regions such as East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh, Central Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, and Lakshadweep may experience heavy rain with thundershowers.

The influence of a Western Disturbance in the northern regions is anticipated to impact the overall atmospheric conditions over North India and neighbouring areas on Tuesday. The weather department advises residents to stay updated on weather alerts and forecasts as conditions may vary across different regions.
