Untimely Heavy Rain In Pune Causes Chaos; 10-Year-Old Dies From Electric Shock
Pune, 21st May 2025: Pune is witnessing an unusual spell of heavy rain over the past three days, causing significant disruption across the city. The downpour intensified on Tuesday (20th May), leaving Pune’s roads resembling overflowing drains. Many areas experienced strong winds along with the relentless rain, severely affecting daily life.
Tragically, amid the storm, a 10-year-old boy lost his life due to an electric shock in the Warje area on Tuesday night. The boy, identified as Mayank alias Dadu Pradeep Adagale, came into contact with an electric pole outside his home during the heavy rains, resulting in the mishap.
The rains, which began in the afternoon, escalated sharply by evening, leading to waterlogging on major roads across several parts of Pune. Additionally, 15 incidents of trees falling were reported, further compounding the city’s troubles. The heavy downpour also caused significant traffic congestion in various locations.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings of more heavy pre-rains expected in the next 48 hours across the state. Residents have been advised to remain cautious as the adverse weather conditions continue.
