Washington, 9th July 2022: US President Joe Biden signed an executive order banning abortion in the country on Friday. However, he criticized the Supreme Court order barring the constitutional right to abortion and appealed to the people not to be disheartened by the decision. Biden said the quickest way to uphold the right to abortion is to pass a national law. The challenge is to vote for it. The good thing is that elections are due in November.

Biden’s signing of the government order gave the Justice Ministry and the Ministry of Health and Human Services the authority to prohibit women from having abortions or traveling to states where abortions are not completely banned. Abortion is still allowed in some US states, but it has to follow strict conditions.

The decision was contrary to the opinion of most Americans

Significantly, on June 24, the US Supreme Court abolished the constitutional protection for abortion. The court’s decision was contrary to the opinion of most Americans that the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision should be upheld, which held that women had a right to decide whether or not to have an abortion. This gave women in America the right to a safe abortion.
