Vadapav Vendor Booked for Insulting National Flag in Pune

Pune, 27th January 2025: The Chandannagar police have registered a case against a Vadapav vendor in Vadgaon Sheri for allegedly insulting the national flag.
The incident came to light after Mahesh Anandrao Kadam (48), a resident of Matenagar, Vadgaon Sheri, lodged a complaint on Sunday.
According to the police, the incident occurred around 10 am on January 26, when Kadam visited the vendor to purchase Vadapav. Kadam alleged that the vendor handed him Vadapav wrapped in a piece of paper featuring an image of the national flag. Shocked by the disrespectful use of the national emblem, Kadam questioned the vendor and later filed a complaint at the Chandannagar police station.
Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case under Section 2 (G) of the Prevention of Insults to National Honours Act. The vendor, who operates a Vadapav cart in the Vadgaon Sheri area, is now under investigation.
