Developed by alumni of the Army Institute of Technology, the platform enables citizens to actively contribute to road safety by reporting traffic violations captured on dashcams or mobile phones.
The platform, a social initiative led by Ravi Kumar, co-founder of VIR Bike, is designed to encourage accountability and responsible driving. Each violation reported through VahanScore.com impacts a vehicle’s “Vahan Score,” a publicly accessible record aimed at deterring reckless driving.
How VahanScore.com Works:
Reporting: Citizens report violations via the platform.
Verification: Each report undergoes a validation process.
Scoring: Verified violations impact the vehicle’s “Vahan Score.”
Public Access: The database is accessible to buyers, enabling them to check a vehicle’s history before purchase. Insurance companies can also use the data to determine premiums.
Early Success:
Since its launch in Pune, VahanScore.com has received over 100 traffic violation reports in its first week alone, indicating strong public interest and engagement. Currently operational in Pune, the platform plans to expand across India as its database grows.
