Various works under MGNREGA will be approved at provincial level in Marathwada

Mumbai, May 22:- On the backdrop of drought situation in Marathwada all the works under the MGNREGA will be approved at provincial level. In order to save the time required for or approval to various works and make available employment to the rural people, the employment guarantee scheme (EGS) department took the decision on the instructions of EGS Minister Jaykumar Rawal.

 Henceforth, the works under MGNREGA in Marathwada will not be required to be approved by local Committee, district magistrate or chief executive officer of the Zilla Parishads, They will be approved at provincial level by Tehsildar, Block Development officers (BDO) and provincial officer level. They should be given approval within 14 days, directed Minister Rawal.

 

 Today a meeting was organized at the mantralaya, headed by Mr Rawal for taking a stock of drought situation. Secretary Eknath Dawale, Deputy secretary Pramod Shinde and other officers were present in the meeting. As the drought situation is prevailing in the region, 300 crore rupees had been transferred under MGNREGA. Out of this, 80 crore rupees will be disbursed as the pending funds of Wells and tube wells. If the 14th finance commission is compared with convergence scheme, role model can be created.

 

 At least one work under convergence scheme should be taken, directed the Minister. Observation of drought, distribution of work, increasing the attendance of laborers are the main objectives which are to be concentrated. The present labor attendance is 3 lakh 43 thousand 360 but it should be increased upto 6 to 7 lakhs, directed Mr Rawal.

 

            Fund of rupees hundred crore had been sanction this year for ‘Palak Mantri shet Panand scheme’. Each district in the state has been given an amount of 1.5 crore. A total of 51 crore rupees have been distributed in 34 district under the MGNREGA. Under the convergence scheme 28 works can be approved. The Gram Panchayats should take benefit of this scheme. For boosting it, a video conferencing discussion with the district magistrate of all the districts of state is going to be held shortly.
