Vehicle Owners Get More Time: Maharashtra Extends HSRP Deadline to April 30 to Ease Rush

Pune, 16th February 2025: The Maharashtra government has extended the deadline for vehicle owners to install high-security registration plates (HSRPs) from March 30 to April 30. The decision aims to prevent a last-minute rush and ensure a smoother process for vehicles registered before April 1, 2019.
State Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanwar emphasized the need for a hassle-free experience for motorists. “Our goal is to ensure that vehicle owners do not face any difficulties while getting HSRPs installed. If we observe persistent issues such as appointment delays or technical glitches, we may consider extending the deadline further,” he stated.
Several vehicle owners have reported challenges while applying for HSRPs online, citing slow website performance and frequent page reloads that disrupt the application process.
To assist applicants, Pune Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Archana Gaikwad advised people to reach out to the dedicated helpline at 7836888822 for support.
The HSRP, a tamper-proof registration plate with a unique identification number, is mandated by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to enhance vehicle security and curb counterfeiting. Vehicle owners are urged to complete the installation before the new deadline to avoid penalties.
