Villagers Carry Pregnant Woman 15 Km In A Round Bucket For Delivery

Pune, 28 July 2021: Villagers of Kudali Khurd had to carry a pregnant woman in a bucket after she went into labour. Due to incessant rain and the landslide near the Neera Devdhar dam area, the roads have been closed for transport.

 

Similarly, the nearest health centre for the remote villages in this area is more than 15 kms away. The villagers carried her in a bucket and walked down 15 kms to reach the road. From there she was transferred into an ambulance. She later delivered a baby immediately after reaching the hospital.

 

“Both the baby and the mother are doing fine”, said the doctors treating her.
Incessant rains have lashed the Hirdoshi area in the western Bhor taluka. Landslides on Bhor-Mahad and Bhor-Dugardi road has closed down it by snapping connection with nearly 10 villages here. Priyanka Suresh Venupure went into labor. The family called for an ambulance at Ambavade primary health centre but due to rain and road closure the ambulance could not reach their place.

 

Thus, the villagers had to carry here till the main road from where she was taken into ambulance to the hospital.
