Viman Nagar: Two Men Arrested With Cannabis By Pune Police Crime Branch

Pune, August 25, 2020: The sleuths from the Crime Branch of Pune City police have nabbed two men for smuggling Ganja (cannabis) near Viman Nagar. Police have seized 14 kg cannabis from the duo.

The arrested accused have been identified as Namdev Narayan Lange (63) of Keshav Nagar, Mundhwa and Mavat Rupsing Pardeshi (28) of Shirur. An FIR has been registered against them at Vimantal police station under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police Naik Mangesh Pawar had received tip-off about the accused persons. Accordingly, a trap was laid near Mahalaxmi Lawns near Kharadi Bypass and the two accused were arrested when they reached there in an autorickshaw. Police have seized the autorickshaw, Rs 8500 cash, two mobile phones and 14 kg cannabis, totally worth Rs 3.98 lakh.

The action was taken under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Bachchan Singh and ACP Shivaji Pawar, by a team comprising Police Inspector Rajendra Mohite, PSI Mahadik, and policemen Ramesh Garud, Vijay Gurav, Chikhale, Mangesh Pawar, Amol Pilane, Yalapale.
