Viral Video Shows Powerful Winds Bringing Traffic to a Standstill at Malshej Ghat
Malshej Ghat, 15th July 2026: A viral video from Maharashtra’s scenic Malshej Ghat has captured the intensity of strong monsoon winds, with several two-wheeler riders forced to stop after struggling to maintain control of their vehicles.
The footage shows powerful gusts sweeping across the mountain pass, making it difficult for bikers to continue their journey. In another scene, a pedestrian is seen battling the force of the wind, momentarily losing balance as he attempts to move forward.
The video has sparked widespread discussion on social media, with users expressing amazement at the strength of the winds. Many described the conditions as dangerous and advised travellers to avoid unnecessary trips through the ghat during severe weather.
Situated on the Pune–Thane border along National Highway 61, Malshej Ghat is a popular monsoon destination known for its waterfalls, lush greenery and mist-covered hills. However, the same season also brings unpredictable weather, including heavy rainfall, strong winds and reduced visibility, making travel through the region challenging.
Authorities and seasoned travellers have urged motorists to exercise caution, drive at controlled speeds and avoid stopping at exposed locations or cliff edges during adverse weather conditions.
While the exact date of the viral video could not be independently verified, it has renewed attention on the need for caution while travelling through the Western Ghats during the ongoing monsoon season.
