Pune, 30th November 2025: With municipal elections on the horizon, a large number of errors have surfaced in the draft voter list released by the Municipal Corporation. Following growing concerns from citizens and political parties, the State Election Commission extended the deadline for filing objections and suggestions to December 3. Since the extension, a total of 6,831 objections have been registered, and officials expect the number to rise further before the cutoff date.

Residents pointed out issues such as duplicate entries, names of voters who have shifted to other wards, and inclusion of individuals from rural areas in the city voter list. Several political parties had demanded more time to address these discrepancies, prompting the administration to seek approval from the Election Commission for an extension.

In response, the civic administration has initiated a detailed review of the entries. The Sinhagad Regional Office has recorded the highest number of complaints so far, receiving 3,186 objections. Officials say most of the issues are already under resolution.

To expedite the process, 200 staff members have been deployed across 15 regional offices. According to the Municipal Corporation, nearly 80 percent of the registered objections have been resolved to date. Senior officials, including three additional municipal commissioners, are personally visiting regional offices to monitor the correction work.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Corporation has collected Rs 16.66 lakh from voter list sales. The updated list of polling stations will be published on December 15, followed by the final voter list on December 22, as per the election schedule.
