Pune, 18th March 2021: A day after Punekar News reported about the mismanagement in Covid vaccination by Wagholi Primary Health Centre (PHC), the medical officer has clarified that separate queues will be made for CoWin registered and unregistered people for the vaccine.

Dr Varsha Gaikwad, Medical Officer of Wagholi PHC, said that Covid vaccination is going at the Bharatiya Jain Sanghatana (BJS) centre due to a lack of space in PHC.

“The flow of OPD patients daily is around 250, Immunization session babies around 60, Pregnant women and deliveries and relatives in IPD. Covid vaccination is given to senior citizens, comorbid, frontline workers, healthcare workers and almost more than 200 vaccination are done every day. Keeping in mind Covid social distancing norm the centre is kept at BJS Covid Care Centre (CCC) as the CCC was closed and the space was available. Yesterday Covaxin was given but as the office had some technical issues we were asked to start on today’s date.

Covishield is being given only for the second dose. Registered and unregistered people will be asked to stand in separate lines and numbering will be done on hand.

Corona cases are rising every day in Wagholi and we are falling short of manpower so I request all citizens of Wagholi to co-operate with the local government arrangements”, the medical officer said.
