Wakad: Passenger Looted By Autorickshaw Driver And His Accomplice

Pune, January 6, 2021: A delivery boy was robbed while he was returning in an autorickshaw as the customer had returned the parcel. He was then threatened by the autorickshaw driver and his accomplice passenger. The incident took place at Bhumkar chowk on a service road on Monday.

Delivery boy Manish Kumar, a native of Bihar who resides in Hadapsar, has registered the complaint at Hinjewadi Police station.  Within five hours of the complaint, cops arrested the accused.

 

According to police, Manish Kumar works as a delivery boy and was returning with a parcel delivered in the Hinjewadi area. He boarded a rickshaw from Hinjewadi Chowk. There were two other passengers in the rickshaw. The rickshaw driver took him to a secluded place. There the autorickshaw driver and his fellow passengers looted Kumar’s mobile phone, silver chain, Rs 1500 cash and other mobile accessories. They also assaulted him and threatened to throw him off the bridge.

 

Frightened after the incident, Manish Kumar lodged a complaint against the accused at Hinjewadi police station. Police tracked down the accused in just five hours with the help of CCTV footage. An accused named Parmeshwar has been arrested by the police. The incident is being further investigated.
