Pune, 30 July 2020: While the residents stayed inside homes to protect themselves from the deadly coronavirus disease (COVID19), some kept working relentlessly without thinking twice that they are vulnerable to the deadly infection.

Dr Somnath Dhonde, chairman of Vedanta Society, said, “They ensured our safety, cleanliness of the society and the usual chores of the society activities were being carried out normally. We call them our frontline heroes. They have been risking their health for serving the residents including those who were unwell because of COVID.

As a small token of gratitude to these Vedanta Heroes, we have taken COVID insurance policy for 12 such heroes including security staff, housekeeping staff pump operator, gardner and society manager. The sum insured per head is Rs one lakh. This has given them the confidence that we care for them as our extended family. This sum will act as a required financial cushion should they need any medical help and reduce their financial burden to an extent.”
