Wanted Criminal from Pune Killed in Police Encounter at Lamboti in Solapur District

Pune/Solapur, 15th June 2025: A notorious criminal from Pune, wanted in multiple serious offences and booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), was shot dead in an encounter with police around 3.30 am in Lamboti village, located in Mohol taluka of Solapur district.

The deceased has been identified as Shahrukh alias Atty Rahim Sheikh (30), a resident of Syed Nagar, Hadapsar, Pune. According to officials, Sheikh had over serious criminal cases registered against him across various police stations in Pune city and district, including Hadapsar, Wanwadi, Kondhwa, and Kalepadal. He was also associated with the Tipu Pathan gang, police said.

Sheikh had been absconding after being charged under MCOCA, and efforts were underway to trace his whereabouts. Acting on a tip-off that he was hiding at a relative’s residence in Lamboti, a team from Pune City Crime Branch, with the assistance of Mohol Police Station, launched a joint operation to apprehend him.

However, when police personnel attempted to arrest him, Sheikh allegedly opened fire using a pistol. In the retaliatory action by the police team, he was shot and killed on the spot.

Following the incident, senior officers from Solapur Rural Police visited Mohol Police Station to review the situation and initiate necessary procedures.
