Wari Nari Shakti initiative by Maharashtra State Commission for Women inaugurated from Pune

Pune 27  June 2019 : The Wari Nari Shakti initiative by Maharashtra State Commission for Women was inaugurated today at a function organized at Shaniwarwada in presence of Dr Neelam Gorhe , Deputy Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council , Vijaya Rahatkar , Chairman Maharashtra State Commission for Women, Mayor Mukta Tilak and litterateur Dr Sadanand More . The inaugural program also saw a special Dindi of Women Empowerment  from Shaniwarwada to Bhide Wada . 

Maharashtra State Commission for Women has organize Wari Nari Shakti initiative during the Palkhi Procession. The initiative for women empowerment which includes a Chitra Rath ( floating vehicle ) to create awareness about laws for women, health and hygiene awareness. The initiative will educate women as well as men about the existing important laws and government schemes for women.  

Deputy Chairman of Maharashtra Legislative Council Dr Neelam Gorhe said that this is good awareness initiative . At a time when women still face many problems and hardships,  both men and women should participate in this initiative to create awareness .

Mayor Mukta Tilak said  this awareness drive will help in creating awareness about various laws for women .This initiative  will also help in creating  awareness on health as well as safety and security of women.

Vijaya Rahatkar said that the entire initiative is about women empowerment. Many women are still unaware about the existing laws for them and this campaign will create awareness about these as well as health .

Key Highlights of Wari Nari Shakti Initiative

1.  Sanitary vending machines and incinerator machines on both the routes. Awareness about use of napkins and hygiene . Women and Child Development Ministry has provided major assistance in this effort.

2.  Film Festival : Films giving the message of women empowerment will be screened on resting places of both the routes . These would include Dangal, Damini, Toilet Ek Prem Katha ) and select short films

3.  Various programs involving Kirtankars, Povadakar and Bharudkars have been organized on the theme of women empowerement.

4.  Well Known  personalities from various fields will participate in the Dindi daily . This would include Marathi Film Celebrities , Doctors, Sportsman , Architects , Lawyers , Women Entrepreneurs , War Widows amongst others. Muslim Women would also participate in the Dindi.
