Warning Issued For Google Chrome Users: Update Now To Avoid Security Risks

New Delhi, 14th November 2024: A strict warning has been issued for Google Chrome users. The government agency has detected flaws in several versions of the Chrome browser. Along with this, some safety tips have also been given to avoid them. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) said that hackers can take advantage of the flaws in the system and break into your personal information. According to the agency, Windows and Mac users can be affected especially due to these flaws. This warning was issued just a few days ago.
CERT-In said that security flaws have been detected in some selected versions which can affect Windows and Linux systems. The agency’s security note says these flaws have been found in Google Chrome’s components Serial and Family Experience. Attackers can take advantage of these flaws and affect the system. Hackers can execute arbitrary code in the system. In the condition of Denial of Service (DoS) which can prove to be harmful for users.
The security vulnerability has been released for select versions of Chrome. Google Chrome versions prior to 130.0.6723.116 for Linux may be affected. Google Chrome versions prior to 130.0.6723.116/.117 for Windows and Mac may be affected by the defect. The defect is said to be only for desktops and not for smartphone users.
To keep users safe from these security flaws, it is advised to use the latest version of Chrome by following the steps given below to check for updates in Windows or Mac.
-Open desktop Chrome browser.
-Click on the three dots in the top right corner.
-Click on ‘Help’ at the bottom and then ‘About Google Chrome’. If there is a new version of the browser, it will show on the page which users can install.
