Wellington College International Pune Achieves accreditation from Council of British International Schools
Pune, 25th March 2025: Wellington College International Pune (WCI Pune) has become a member of the Council of British International Schools (COBIS) just two years into its operation. This prestigious international accreditation follows a thorough inspection by the COBIS members during their visit to the WCI Pune campus in December 2024. The five-year membership signifies that WCI Pune have successfully passed a comprehensive quality assurance process, meeting stringent
criteria, and have been acknowledged for delivering a high-quality British education.
A key element of COBIS recognition involves WCI Pune’s partnership with the renowned Wellington College UK, delivering an excellent educational experience within a Pune setting. WCI Pune was therefore honoured to recently host key figures from Wellington College UK. Ms Ana Romero (Head of Sustainability at Wellington College) and Mr Mark Milliken-Smith (Governor of Wellington College UK), along with his wife (Mrs Sybella Smith), visited the campus to engage with students, teachers and parents. They had the opportunity to meet with the Friends of Wellington (FoW) parental members, exchange insights on Wellington values, and gather valuable feedback from the school community.
Milliken-Smith, an old Wellingtonian, has served as a Governor for five years and plays a key role in managing social responsibility for WC, UK. Ms Romero, a global education coordinator and advocate for sustainability, shared that her visit to WCI Pune was hugely “inspiring and collaborative,” further highlighting the school’s
dedication to fostering a forward-thinking, sustainable future for its students. Her next step is to partner with WCI Pune, allowing our students to develop their experience and make a real impact on their environment.
