Mumbai, 29th March 2025: Meta has launched a major update for WhatsApp, introducing a new feature that lets users add music to their status updates, making the platform even more interactive. This feature is similar to the one found in Instagram Stories. The company has begun rolling it out, and it’s already available in the WhatsApp status section for some iPhone users. If you haven’t received the update yet, don’t worry – it will be rolled out globally in the coming weeks.

All WhatsApp users will soon have the option to add snippets of popular songs to their status updates, which will disappear after 24 hours like regular status. According to WhatsApp’s parent company, Meta, the platform’s music library will offer users millions of songs to choose from, allowing them to improve their status with personalized music clips. This feature has been added to the existing status update interface with text, photos, and videos.

Here’s how to add music to your WhatsApp status, step by step:
1. Open WhatsApp and go to the Status section.
2. Tap on Add Status to select a photo or video you want to share.
3. At the top of the screen, you’ll see a new music note icon. Click on it.
4. Choose your favorite song either by browsing the list or searching for it.
5. Adjust the music to fit your status: you can select up to 15 seconds for a song or 60 seconds for a video with a photo.
6. Once you’re happy with the music, click ‘Done’.
7. Share the music-infused status just like a regular update.

The new music feature on WhatsApp stands out because it gives users complete control over their status updates. Not only can you select a song, but you can also share a specific part of the track, allowing for a more personalized and creative touch. This feature makes it easier to jump on viral trends or express emotions through music in your status. Additionally, like all other content on WhatsApp, these music-infused status updates will be protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring your privacy is always maintained.
