WhatsApp Is In Trouble? Privacy Policy Of WhatsApp In India Cause Controversy; CCI To Announce Decision Soon After Investigation
New Delhi, 15th October 2024: WhatsApp, the platform owned by Meta may face trouble in India. In 2021, the company gave permission to share WhatsApp users’ data with its parent company Meta, regulators also raised questions about this decision of WhatsApp. It was said that WhatsApp is violating the privacy of users by sharing their data with Meta, and WhatsApp is also not following the IT laws of India.
An investigation has been going on against WhatsApp in India for a long time. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is investigating it. According to a recent report, now CCI can give its decision on this investigation. An order is going to be issued against WhatsApp soon due to privacy policies.
Before CCI, the Director General of Inquiry (DG) had said about WhatsApp that the company was taking advantage of its presence in the market in the wrong way. DG said that Meta is trying to establish a monopoly in the market by adopting wrong policies. DG had mentioned many other things in the report submitted to CCI.
Talking about WhatsApp’s side on this whole matter WhatsApp spokesperson stated, “Whatever decision comes in the investigation, we will respect it. Nothing can be said on this right now. It would be right to wait for the decision.”
Now many people are wondering whether WhatsApp will be banned in India? It would be too early to answer this question right now. WhatsApp may have to pay a fine due to its policy and it may also be asked to change its policy.
