Where are Punekars travelling during Monsoon this year and why?

As monsoon has made a grand entry in Maharashtra, Punekars have already started packing their bags to explore the monsoon getaways of their choice. Surprisingly, travellers are preferring places that experience heavy rainfall like Kerala, Goa, Konkan, Uttarakhand (Nainital) and Coorg over the places where rains are relatively less.

Commenting on this, Karan Anand – Head, Relationships, Cox and Kings Ltd said, “Heavy rainfall offers its own charm for the travellers. Tourists get attracted towards lush, green, romantic tranquillity. More than sightseeing, they like to enjoy the weather. Usually, monsoon is considered as ‘off-season’ for these places; but this year we are observing surge in bookings mainly for rainy destinations.”

Mr. Karan Anand added,   “Many Punekars have booked the trips much before the monsoon season i.e. in April-May. Many others who have not booked, are booking now and our offices across the state including Mumbai are flooded with enquires for monsoon travel. There is around 40% rise in the number of enquires, which is highest in the recent past”

While explaining how travelling during monsoon can be light on your pocket, Karan says, “If you are travelling off-season, you can get upto 20-30% discounts on the packages. Besides this, travellers can also take advantage of monsoon special offers announces by travel companies/airlines during this season.”

During monsoon, apart from exploring nature, travellers look forward to indulge in activities like trekking, bird watching, hiking, water rafting etc. They also enjoy visiting beaches during the rains. It’s the best time to have Ayurvedic treatments because it is when the mind and body heal best. Ayurvedic spa/ massage is one of the prime attraction of people visiting Kerala during monsoon.

Last year, travellers turned their back on the monsoon getaways in Maharashtra due to low rainfall and opted for the destinations in the other states. But this year destinations in Maharashtra too are all set to welcome the tourists. Lonavala, Khandala, Malshej Mahabaleshwar, Alibag and Bhandardara etc to name a few.
