Why Does America Want More Voting in India? Elon Musk Exposes USAID; BJP Slams Congress

New Delhi, 16th February 2025: The Donald Trump administration has exposed USAID’s involvement in increasing voter turnout in India. There were plans to influence Indian elections by spending millions of dollars via USAID. However, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, has canceled the $21 million funding related to the Indian elections.

Joe Biden was the one who initially approved this funding. The goal of this funding was to increase voting or, in other words, to influence it. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also reacted to this recent incident. The party has mentioned George Soros as well as criticized and slammed Congress.

Sanjeev Sanyal posted on X: “Would love to find out who received the US$21mn spent to improve ‘voter turnout in India’ and the US$29mn to ‘strengthen the political landscape in Bangladesh’; not to mention the US$29mn spent to improve ‘fiscal federalism’ in Nepal. USAID is the biggest scam in human history.”

Apart from India, America has also canceled its funding programs for other countries. Nepal and Bangladesh have also faced a disappointing setback from the United States.

This is External Interference in the Electoral Process: BJP

The BJP reacted to the cancellation of funding and called it external interference in the Indian election process. BJP national spokesperson Amit Malviya took to X and questioned the allocation of $21 million for voter turnout. He stated:

“486M to the ‘Consortium for Elections and Political Process Strengthening,’ including $22M for an ‘inclusive and participatory political process’ in Moldova and $21M for voter turnout in India.

$21M for voter turnout? This definitely is external interference in India’s electoral process. Who gains from this? Not the ruling party for sure!”

George Soros’ Influence Over Indian Elections

Amit Malviya further said that foreign forces are systematically infiltrating Indian institutions. He claimed that the shadow of George Soros, once a well-known ally of the Congress Party and the Gandhi family, is looming over India’s electoral process.

Malviya also stated that in 2012, under the leadership of S.Y. Quraishi, the Election Commission of India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems. This organization is linked to George Soros’ Open Society Foundation and is funded by USAID.

Jab at Congress

Malviya has said that the irony is that those who question the transparent process of appointing the Election Commissioner of India had no hesitation in handing over the entire Election Commission of India to foreign operators. He alleged that the Congress-led UPA government helped the enemies of the country’s interests infiltrate Indian institutions. These infiltrators, he said, attempt to weaken India at every opportunity.
