With Dial 112, Pune Police Reaching People Within 7 Minutes

Pune, 17th January 2022: The Dial 112 scheme was launched to provide emergency help to the citizens of the country with a common number. The Dial 112 scheme was launched on a pilot basis in Pune on September 8, 2021.

So citizens are now getting police help quickly in an average of 7 minutes. Earlier, when people dialed 100, the location was not known, but with the Dial 112 scheme, the location of the caller is reflected in the system. As a result, the caller gets immediate help.

A control room of Dial 112 equipped with all technical facilities has been set up at Pune Police Commissionerate. The Dial 112 system is getting great response from the public and about 300 calls are being attended on time every day.

According to the officials, the call first goes to the main call center in Navi Mumbai. There the call is sent to the concerned district with complete information about the caller. The information is then forwarded to the nearest police beat marshal. After completing the task, the marshal informs the authority. All this process is done online.

Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta, Joint Commissioner Ravindra Shisve and Additional Commissioner of Police (Admin) Jalinder Supekar supervise and monitor the operations.

107 Two Wheelers, 51 Four Wheelers-

Dial 112 devices have been installed on a total of 158 vehicles which consists of 51 four-wheelers, and 107 two-wheelers to keep the Dial 112 system running smoothly. Six officers and about 500 police constables have been trained in Pune and Mumbai in this regard.
