YouTube Launches Youth Digital Wellbeing Initiative for Safe, Quality Content for Kids

New Delhi, 25th March 2025: YouTube has launched the Youth Digital Wellbeing Initiative to provide safe and quality content for children. More than 12 popular content creators and distributors from 10 countries have joined this initiative on YouTube. This effort aims to enhance a safer and more enriching online experience for children.

YouTube has always been concerned about the digital security of children. Through the Youth Digital Wellbeing Initiative, YouTube wants to focus on minimizing exposure to harmful content by increasing quality content for children on its platform. Some of the key steps YouTube has already taken include:
YouTube Kids – Safe and interactive content platform for children.
Supervised Experiences – Helpful tool for parents to monitor children’s online activity.
In partnership with the American Psychological Association, YouTube has prepared an online time management guide.
YouTube has partnered with popular content creators and distributors from around the world under the Youth Digital Wellbeing Initiative. YouTube believes that local content development and distribution can make the platform safer for children and young viewers.
YouTube to Become Safer for Kids
YouTube is taking several steps to ensure the safety and digital security of children through this initiative. It will develop content tailored to the needs of children and adolescents by targeting the age group so that they view appropriate content.Additionally, YouTube will restrict 18+ content, violent scenes, and similar material in its default settings. It will also work on media literacy programs for parents, helping them guide their children’s digital experiences.
