Zepto Viman Nagar Workers Approach MNS Over Alleged Hygiene And Storage Issues

Viman Nagar, 24th August 2026: Nearly two weeks after Zepto delivery partners at the New Viman Nagar hub raised concerns over hygiene, basic facilities and safety, workers have approached the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) with fresh complaints about the condition of the store.
Delivery partners had earlier staged a strike on August 12, raising concerns over unclean bathrooms, eating and rest areas, garbage around the facility, limited EV charging spaces and storage crates being kept outside. The workers had also alleged the presence of rats and cockroaches and said their concerns had been raised with management over several months.
In the latest complaint, workers have raised similar concerns while alleging additional issues related to product storage, expired goods and cleanliness inside the store. They have also sought action on drinking water, toilet facilities and adequate space for workers to rest.
According to the workers, they had again approached the store management over the issues. They said the store captain told them that a fixed timeline would be given after discussions with senior management. The workers claim they were previously told that the work would be completed by August 27, but allege that no significant action had been taken when they raised the latest complaint.
The workers subsequently contacted the MNS and submitted their concerns. According to their account, an MNS representative held a conference call with senior management and sought a fixed timeline for resolving the issues.
“We want a fixed date for when all the workers’ demands will be fulfilled. If it cannot be resolved from your side, let us know, and we will come there and protest,” the workers said, quoting the MNS representative.
The workers have also requested an inspection of the store by Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe, particularly in relation to their allegations concerning hygiene and food storage.
One worker alleged that five dead rats were found inside the store, following which a strong smell was noticed on the premises. The workers claim CCTV footage is available and that some employees had recorded videos of the conditions. They also alleged that some workers were reluctant to share the footage over concerns about their employment. These claims have not been independently verified.
The workers have also questioned the manner in which goods are stored inside the facility. In a message shared with the complaint, one worker sarcastically questioned the storage practices, writing, “This is the way our store keeps its goods. Is the store really moving forward because of this?”
The latest complaints also include a demand that workers should not face action against their Zepto Rider IDs for raising concerns. Similar concerns about possible blocking of Rider IDs had been raised during the August 12 protest. At the time, riders had said they were seeking a written report on action taken within seven days.
Separately, a Zepto delivery worker filed a non-cognisable complaint at Viman Nagar police station on August 23 after allegedly posting concerns about the way goods were stored at the store in a WhatsApp group. The worker alleged that two employees subsequently abused and threatened him over the message and photographs shared in the group.
The workers have also alleged that during an earlier visit by PMC personnel for cleaning-related work, ₹10,000 was allegedly paid to “manage” the matter. This allegation has not been independently verified, and no supporting documentation establishing the alleged payment has been provided.
The latest complaints follow the issues raised by delivery partners earlier this month and come as workers seek a fresh inspection and a clear timeline from management for addressing their concerns.
The allegations made by the workers remain unverified and would require confirmation through an inspection or investigation by the relevant authorities.
