115 Lila Seniors get a step closer to achieving their dream

Pune, 21st September, 2016: 21st September 2016, a  memorable day for the Lila Poonawalla Foundation.. The occasion, Scholarship Award Function for the Lila Seniors.

These 115 Lila Seniors from 6 schools (The Lila Juniors who have completed their 10th std get an Auto-Scholarship to pursue their Under Graduate Studies, in any of their chosen fields like Commerce, Arts, Science, Engineering (Computer, E&TC, IT etc) Diploma in Engineering, Direct 2nd yr Engineering, Pharmacy, Nursing) .

Not just stopping at Graduation, the Foundation will continue to support the girls during their placements as well, advice them about the further course of action.  Apart from this, if the Girls wish to pursue their post graduation, then they can re-apply for the Post-Graduation Scholarship. Foundation recently welcomed 361 new Lila Juniors at the recently concluded School Scholarship Award Function. Apart from this, LPF will also welcome the recipients of the UG and PG Scholarship, not just from Pune but from Amravati & Wardha. With this the Foundation now aims to cross the 1000 mark this year alone.

The Award Function, turned out to be quite a crowd pleaser, as not just the awardees, their parents, the LPF Board of Trustees, Committee Members, Staff Members, Counsellors (all dressed in the specially designed Foundation Saree) School Presidents, Principals, Teachers of all the 19 schools that LPF supports and several Luminaries from Pune had gathered to wish the awardees.

From now on the Girls will become the daughters of the Lila Poonawalla Foundation and Mr. & Mrs. Poonawalla will be known as their Mom & Dad.

Tears, Happiness and bouts of Laughter and Joy, such was the scene, one could witness at the recently concluded Lila Poonawalla Foundation  Scholarship Award Function, held at Noor- Al-Bassam Hall, Anjuman-I-Islam Complex, Pune.

Chief Guest for the Occasion, Mrs. Gauri Shikarpur (Past President of the club and Director (Women in Rotary) of Rotary district 3131) struck an emotional chord with the audience and the girls, when she passionately spoke about Women Empowerment and the role education plays, in making girls independent both economically and financially. She concluded by wishing the girls, all the best in their studies and urged them to not give up on their dreams.

On this occasion, Padmashri Lila Poonawalla, Chairperson of LPF, said that while the Foundation is developing these girls into young, qualified and empowered women, their parents should allow them to become economically independent, before they decide to take the marital plunge. She exuded a sense of pride, when she spoke about the contribution, her daughters will be making to the economy of India. Mrs. Poonawalla concluded her speech by thanking our Partners for the “2morrow 2gether” School Project Initiative, Biltema Foundation, for their tremendous support.
