352 Sakhi Polling Stations will be run only by women during Maharashtra Assembly Elections

Mumbai , 12 Oct 2019 : 352 ‘Sakhi Polling Stations’ will be set up in the state . These polling stations , particularly for women , will be controlled by women and emphasize will be given on administration. At least one and maximum three such polling stations will be established in each assembly constituency.

At these polling stations will have, all women, including police officials and officials of the election work. Sakhi polling stations will be set up with a view to have more positive participation of women in gender equality and voting process.

No particular colour will be used at these polling booths to be controlled by women. The Election Commission of India has given such clear instructions that the colour of any particular political party should not be used unnecessarily at these booths.

The women posted at these centers can wear any colour of dress of their choice. To make these centers more attractive and beautiful, special emphasize will be given on Rangoli , colouring and sanitation.

Special care will be given to security while selecting such centers. Such centers will be established near the Tehsil Office, Police Stations, avoiding sensitive areas. The polling stations where the officials of the election process will have permanent contact, have been selected as ‘Sakhi Polling Stations’.
