Around Rs 2.55 crore Jandhan Bank accounts in Maharashtra

New Delhi, 23.Aug.19: Under the Pradhan Mantri Jandhan Scheme, around 2, 53, 93,000 accounts have been opened in Maharashtra in the last five years. These accounts have deposits worth Rs 6,136 crore till date. More than 31 lakh bank accounts have been opened in the last one year and deposits have increased by Rs 1,482 crore.

The Prime Minister Jandhan Yojana was launched on August 28, 2014. Under this scheme, 36, 63, 82,527 bank accounts have been opened in the country in the last five years and deposits worth Rs 102 lakh crore have been deposited in these bank accounts till date.

31 lakh new bank accounts

At the end of August 2018, around 2, 24, 05 708 bank accounts were opened in Maharashtra. During the last year, 31, 87,304 new bank accounts have been opened.

Distribution of 1.82 crore ‘RuPay’ cards

During the last five years, 1, 82, 74, 735 RuPay cards were distributed in Maharashtra under Jandhan Yojana Scheme. At the end of August 2018, the number was 1.56 crore. More than 26 lakh new cards were distributed during the last year.

Around 1.26 crore accounts in rural banks

In the Jandhan Bank scheme, 1, 26, 11, 107 accounts have been opened in rural banks while more than 14 lakh accounts have been added to urban and metropolitan banks. Total 1, 29, 81, 905 bank accounts have been opened in urban banks.
