Merchant Navy Professional and a passionate photographer Captain Vishwas Patwardhan has organized a photo exhibition on Antartica at Balgandharwa from 1- 4 April 2018 from 9am – 8 pm .This is his sixth photography exhibition at Balgandharwa . Captain Patwardhan went to Antarctica in November 2017 with Wild Photo, Norway and Toehold, India. This was specifically a photography expedition for two weeks in Antarctica. He will be displaying about 200 photographs in varying sizes for viewing and sale for interested patrons. There will also be a video display on a LCd screen and information about Antarctica. The idea is to share his experience through photographs with the people in Pune.

Antarctica is so different from anywhere else that the whole place has a hard-to-describe, otherworldly feel. The vast scale of mountains, ice sheets and waterways dwarfs the ships that bring us to Antarctica, heightening the sense of isolation and insignificance one can feel here.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Suhas Kane, who has spent 15 months in the Indian research base in Antarctica (1994-96).

Exhibition dates 1-4 April 2018

Time: 9 am to 8 pm.
