Three persons including two celebrity event managers and a Nigerian arrested in Pune with drugs

Pune, September 18: Officials from Khadak police station of Pune city police have seized Mephedrone (MD) drugs worth Rs 60,000 from a Nigerian national. Later police arrested two event managers who had come to purchase the narcotic drugs from Mumbai.

Policeman Atul Bhingardive had received information that an African citizen would arrive near Poona college to sell the drugs. Accordingly a team led by police sub inspectors Ashok Wagh and Sanjay Gaikwad laid a trap and nabbed Nofer Christine (37), the Nigerian national on Thursday.

Police said that based on information from Christine, they laid a trap in Swargate area and arrested Saurav Bhawrilal Sharma (32) and Samir Ali Shaikh (35), both residents of Mumbai, who had come to purchase the drugs.

According to police, Sharma and Shaikh are celebrity event managers who have managed many shows of many Bollywood superstars. During investigations it was revealed that the Nigerian national came to India on a tourist visa six months ago and allegedly indulged in drug peddling. He targeted youths from affluent families.

The arrested accused have been remanded to four days of police custody.

DCP (Zone I) Tushar Doshi and Senior police inspector Raghunath Jadhav, in – charge of Khadak police station, supervised the investigation team which included policemen Sarfaraz Shaikh, Suresh Sonawane, Mahendra Pawar, Zakir Pathan, Imran Nadaf, Dnyaneshwar Palve, Sachin Inamdar, Surendra Jagdale and Rahul Gaikwad.
