Unique Autorickshaw Fashion Show in Pune

Fashion shows are increasingly becoming an art form, and are watched by millions of fans around the world. The state of Maharashtra in India, though, has a unique kind of fashion event that is becoming more and more popular each year. Watch the next episode of HistoryTV18’s ‘OMG! The latest season of the super-successful and long-running series, ‘OMG! Yeh Mera India’ has been shining a light on India’s fascinating history as well as the latest innovations in the country. Baba Shinde started the famous autorickshaw fashion show in 2009, with 5 autos participating. Last year’s event saw 50 participants, where the First, Second and Third prize winners won Rs. 21,000, Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 15,000, respectively. Participating autos put up a ramp show, and are evaluated by a jury on visual appearance, interior comfort, engine performance, and the driver’s knowledge of traffic rules, among other criteria.
Watch the episode to see the kitschy autorickshaws try to amaze the judges. The half-hour episode, airing on 20th and 21st January, 8 PM will also feature other fascinating curiosities from across the country.
