Water and basic amenities will be provided for Colaba area of Mumbai – Yogesh Sagar

Mumbai,20.June.19: “Mumbai Municipal Corporation has ordered to supply clean drinking water and other basic amenities to A division of municipal corporation in Colaba, Mumbai, informed , Yogesh Sagar, State Minister for Urban Development, in Legislative Council today.

He was answering the question about water scarcity problems in A division of Colaba area in Mumbai, raised by Adv.Rahul Narvekar for water scarcity.

Mr. Sagar further said that to increase the water supply in the Colaba area, the new water pipeline of 300 mm diameter has been laid at up to Saibaba temple in the helipad lane from the main water channel of Capt. Prakash Pethe Road. So, the water supply has improved. To provide water in the Colaba area as per the requirement water tanker are supplying from the tanker filing point of Azad Maidan in ‘A’ division. To control the water supply, CCTV cameras and water meter devices have been set up at tanker filling point.

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has informed there is regular water supply in the slum area, government / municipal hospitals and other necessary places by Municipal Corporation. For water supply provided by Municipal Corporation, installation of water meter at water pipelines would take place. The corporation also try to prevent water theft and leakage. Ordered will be issued to Municipal Corporation to give tap water connection within 30 days of application.
