Yerwada police busts robbery gang, recovers Rs 10.5 lakhs cash

Pune, August 23, 2019 : Five persons have been arrested by Yerwada police station, Pune city police, who had looted Rs 29.24 lakh cash from employee of a courier firm. Cops have recovered Rs 10.5 lakhs cash and a two-wheeler from their possession.

Shriniwas Karjagikar had lodged an FIR in this regard with police. Two accused persons were arrested on Thursday and later their accomplices were also nabbed.

The arrested persons have been identified as Sandip Tanaji Biradar (22), Mangesh Ramesh Biradar (28), Sumit Balaji Patil (19), Rahul Devidas Suryavanshi (20), Gajanan alias Pintu Pandurang Suvarnkar (30), all residents of Latur district.

According to police, accused Suvarnkar used to work with the same courier company. After being injured in accident, he left job. Later, with the help of other accused he planned the robbery as he was aware of timing and route of cash transfer. The complainant was looted when he got down from a luxury bus near Gunjan chowk in Yerwada around 6.30 am on August 10.

Investigation team included DCP (Zone 4) Prasad Akkanouru, ACP (yerwada division) Ramchandra Desai, Senior police inspector Yunus Shaikh, in-charge of Yerwada police station, Police inspector (crime) Ajay Waghmare, PSI Mangesh Bhange, ASI Balu Bahirat, and policemen Hanmant Jadhav, Sandip Manjulkar, Sameer Bhorde, Rahul Pardeshi, Sunil Naglot, Pankaj Musale, Ashok Gawli, Vishnu Sarode.
