Maharashtra Government bows before farmers, strike called off

Mumbai – After a marathon meeting lasting 5 hours in the dead of night at Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis residence, the farmers agreed to call of their strike as government has agreed to 70 percent of their demands.
Fadnavis announced that loans of small land holder farmers will be waived before 31st October,2017. About 80 percent farmers in the state come under this category.
The government will take a decision on increase in price of milk by June 20 after discussing it with farmers and various milk federations.
Also cases filed against farmers during the strike will be rolled back but not the cases against anti-social elements.
A new committee is being formed for valuing prices of farm produce and if anyone buys below the minimum support price (MSP), it will criminal offence.
Government coming with innovative scheme to help farmers.
The remaining demands of farmers will also be looked into after discussions with various stakeholders.
