1008 fresh COVID patients in Maharashtra today, tally reaches 11,506 now

Pune, May 1, 2020: A total of 1008 new Covid-19 cases were reported today in the state taking the Maharashtra tally to 11,506. There were 26 COVID-related deaths in the state today.  1879 patients have been discharged till date after full recovery. Currently, 1,63,026 people are in-home quarantine and 11,677 people are in institutional quarantine.

Out of these, 10 deaths were recorded in Pune, 5 in Mumbai, 3 in Jalgaon district, 1 was recorded in Pune district, 1 in Sindhudurg, 1 in Bhivandi Municipal Corporation, 1 in Thane Municipal Corporation, 1 in Nanded, 1 in Aurangabad Municipal Corporation, and 1 in Parbhani. Additionally, 1 death of an Uttar Pradesh resident was recorded in Mumbai.

Out of the 26 deaths today, 18 were men and 8 women. 14 of them aged over 60 years, 11 were from the age group 40 to 59 years and 1 was aged less than 40 years. 15 out of 26 patients (58%) had high-risk co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, etc. Death toll in Covid-19 patients has now gone up to 485 in the state.

Out of 1,53,125 laboratory samples, 1,40,587 were negative and 11,506 have been tested positive for coronavirus until today. As per the guidance from the Government of India, cluster containment action plan is being implemented in places where clusters of patients have been found in the state. There are 792 active containment zones in the state currently. Total 10,849 surveillance squads worked today across the state and surveillance of 45.34 lakh population was done.

751 new COVID19 cases were reported in Mumbai, taking the number of cases to 7625 in areas under Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. In Pune city, 93 fresh cases of Coronavirus positive were reported today in areas under Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) taking the total tally to 1611. Out of this 91 people have died while 325 patients have been cured and discharged from different hospitals. Till 9 pm today, seven people succumbed to the deadly virus while 51 people were discharged after being cured. Out of a total of 1195 active patients, the conditions of 64 is critical.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there has been a spike of 1755 new COVID19 positive cases and 77 deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of COVID19 positive cases in India has increased to 35365 including 9064 cured/discharged and 1152 deaths.
