This proactive measure resulted in cases being filed against 117 drunk drivers in various parts of Pune.

The traffic police, in collaboration with personnel from local police stations, set up blockades in multiple areas including Mundhwa, Koregaon Park, Yerwada, and Vimannagar. These operations were conducted after midnight to catch drunk drivers and prevent accidents.

During these blockades, a total of 1,409 motorists were checked, revealing that 117 drivers had consumed alcohol. The Yerwada and Sahakarnagar police station limits saw the highest number of operations. Additionally, the police took action against 262 motorists for various traffic violations, collecting fines amounting to Rs 2,84,500.

This initiative was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar and Joint Police Commissioner Praveen Pawar. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Traffic Branch, Rohidas Pawar, led the operation with teams from both the Traffic Branch and local police stations.

This recent crackdown follows a similar operation three days prior, where action was taken against 85 drunk drivers. The Pune traffic police’s commitment to road safety aims to reduce the risk of accidents and ensure stricter enforcement of traffic laws.
