Mumbai, 18th July 2022: 12 people died when a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus from Indore in Madhya Pradesh plunged into the Narmada river. After getting information about the accident, the local administration started rescue operations. So far, 12 bodies have been taken out from the river and all the bodies have been identified.

 

Shekhar Channe, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of MSRTC informed that the deceased also included the driver and passengers of the ST bus.

 

Indore – Amalner bus number MH40N 9848 of Amalner depot of MSRTC left Indore at around 7.30 am today (July 18). Then the bus had an accident on the Narmada river bridge between Khalghat and Thigri in Madhya Pradesh and fell into the Narmada river.

 

After getting information about this accident, MSRTC contacted the local district administration and requested help and rescue operations. In the rescue operation undertaken by the local district administration, the bodies of 12 people have been recovered.

 

All these bodies have been kept in the rural hospital in Dhamanot and the search operation is still going on accordingly, informed Channe. “This accident is very unfortunate and measures will be taken by the corporation to prevent such incidents, a committee has been appointed to find out the cause of this accident and the committee has been asked to investigate this case immediately,” Channe added further.
