12 Nigerian Women Rescued From Prostitution Racket In Pimple Gurav

Pimple Gurav, February 3, 2021: Police officials from Pimpri Chinchwad Police Social Security Cell (SSC) have busted a massive prostitution racket and rescued 12 Nigerian women.

Four Nigerian women have been arrested for operating the racket from Vakratund building in Omkar Colony in Morya Park, Pimple Gurav, under the Sangvi police station area.

Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash had received information about foreigners operating prostitution racket in Sangvi. Accordingly, SSC’s Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Kubde formed a team with police officers Assistant Police Inspector Nilesh Waghmare and Police Sub Inspector Dhairyasheel Solanke to investigate the case.

Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted and 16 Nigerian women were taken into police custody during the raid, of which 12 were released. The other four accused have been arrested and action has been taken against them in the prostitution case. Valuables worth Rs 82,920 was seized from their possession during the raid.

The 12 Nigerian women have been sheltered at the Rescue Foundation in Hadapsar after medical examination. The police are verifying the passports and visas of the women and further investigation is underway.

The action was taken under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash, Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokale, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sudhir Hiremath by a team led by ACP Prerna Katte and Senior Police Inspector Kubde.

The team included police personnel Vijay Kamble, Sandeep Gawari, Sandip Aswale, Anant Yadav, Sunil Shirshath, Nitin Londhe, Mahesh Barkule, Deepak Sable, Anil Mahajan, Vishnu Bharti, Amol Shinde, Ganesh Karote, Bhagwanta Muthe, Maruti Karchunde, Sangita Jadhav, Vaishnavi Gawde, Marotrao Jadhav, Rajesh Kokate, Yogesh Tidke, Sonali Mane and Yogini Kachre.

Rescue Foundation’s Kumar Guru Thore and Tanuja Vinayak Pawar also accompanied the team during the raid.
