BJP corporator’s husband involved in buying stolen goods

Chakan, February 3, 2021: Police have registered a case against five persons, including the husband of BJP corporator Kamal Gholap, for allegedly purchasing stolen goods from a private company in Pimpri’s Chakan MIDC. The incident came into light on Friday morning (January 29) at Savardari in Khed.

Three accused, identified as Imran Bagwan, Imran Hussain, and Ranjit Chauhan, have been arrested by the police, while the corporator’s husband Bapu Gholap (a resident of Yamunanagar in Nigdi) and Rashid both have absconded. Amol Prakash Doble (aged 36), who is a resident of Savardari in Chakan, has lodged a complaint at the Mahalunge police station.

According to the police, material worth Rs2.40 lakh was stolen from a private company in Savardari between December 20, 2020, and January 29, 2021.

During the investigation, the police arrested security guard Ranjit on suspicion. The security guard confessed to the crime and told police that he sold the stolen goods to accused Bagwan and Hussain.

The police arrested them accordingly and during interrogation, they confessed to selling goods to absconding accused Bapu Gholap and Rashid.

The police have informed that they are searching for the other two accused. Mahalunge police are investigating the case further.

The action was taken under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash, Additional Commissioner Ramnath Pokale, Deputy Commissioner Manchak Ipper, Assistant Commissioner Ram Jadhav, Inspector of Police Arvind Pawar by a team comprising Assistant Inspector of Police Dattatraya Guling and police personnel Chandu Gawari, Raju Konkeri, Amor Borate, Pawan Waje, Vitthal Wadekar, Shivaji Lokhande, Santosh Kale, and Hiraman Sangde.
