123 Stranded Citizens Safe; Pune Collector Issues Middle East Advisory
Pune, 2nd March 2026: In light of the escalating regional tensions in the Middle East and surrounding nations, significant security advisories have been issued for Indian citizens residing abroad, following directives from the Government of India and the Government of Maharashtra. Pune District Collector and Magistrate Jitendra Dudi has urged citizens to contact the District Disaster Management Cell or the Police Control Room for any necessary assistance and information.
The government has consistently advised all Indian nationals residing in Palestine (Ramallah), Qatar (Doha), Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), Israel (Tel Aviv), Iran (Tehran), Iraq (Baghdad), Kuwait, Bahrain, Muscat, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi/Dubai) to remain highly vigilant. Citizens have been instructed to avoid unnecessary movement and strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by local administrations and Indian embassies. In case of emergencies, individuals should reach out to the 24×7 embassy helplines, as diplomatic missions continue to monitor the situation closely.
The Maharashtra Government has appealed to state residents living overseas to maintain peace and calm, rely exclusively on official information, and promptly contact Indian embassies if needed. The state administration is actively coordinating with the Central Government and respective embassies to remain vigilant regarding the safety of its citizens.
Meanwhile, the district administration received information regarding 123 citizens from the district who were stranded in Dubai between March 1 and 2. Contact has been successfully established with all 123 individuals via telephone, and they are reported to be safe.
